Make Up Policy

Resit and make-up exams are provided for students to give them the opportunity of passing the courses in which they have a failing end-of-year mark, hence, saving a year of their academic life. IAT is to aide the students along their academic endeavor providing remedial assistance when needed, encouraging academic persistence, and caring for the academic well-being of our students. Make-up exams are offered at the end of each term for eligible students only. The procedure by which Resit and Make-up exams are carried out is as follows.

Time
  • Resit exams are offered at the end of each academic year
  • Make-up exams are offered at the end of each term

Eligibility
  • A student is considered eligible for a resit if he has failed 1 to 3 subjects as determined by the end-of-year marks.
  • A Student who failed more than three subjects shall be transferred to other school in the country.
  • A student is eligible for a Make-up exam upon approval of school Principal based on an official documentation justifying a valid excuse.

Remedial
  • The remedial program shall cover the objectives of BOTH terms in the respective core courses.
  • The remedial program for cluster courses shall focus on the material pertinent to each term.

Assessment
  • The resit exam for a core course will be designed such that its content is from term-1 and term-2 materials.
  • The cluster courses are treated on term basis: If term-1 mark is the cause of the failure, the students shall be tested on term-1 material. The same shall apply for term-2.
  • End-of-year Make-up and resit exams are identical.
  • If a student passes the resit exam, he shall receive 60 as the end-of-year mark on the respective course. School-based and all other exam marks in that respective course are then considered irrelevant.
  • If a student is sitting for a make-up exam, that exam mark will be used as his end-of-term exam mark. The course final mark will be calculated accordingly.

Note:
No make-up exams are offered for students who miss any of the system-wide mid-term exams. A student shall receive the mark of the respective end-of-term exam if he misses a mid-term exam and is eligible for make-up. Otherwise, his mark on the mid-term exam(s) that he missed shall be zero. Term-1 Make-up exams follow the same rules for authoring, procedure, delivery, and marking as those followed during the end-of-term exams.
