Equipping 15 state-of-the-art labs and workshops at IAT


The Institute of Applied Technology has implemented a plan that includes setting up and equipping more than 15 state-of-the -art labs and workshops to serve the practical part of the IAT curriculum and develop the creativity of the students.

Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi, the Director General of the IAT, stated that the plan included providing the IAT libraries, across the institutes, with new computers and academic films to help the students understand and accommodated the curriculum readily and easily according to the latest adopted teaching means and standards.

IAT Student Wins Award for Best Engineering Design of Bridges
 
Student Abdul Rahman Al Saadi, who participated in the IAT delegation to the International Exhibition for Scientific Projects in Oita, Japan, won the award for the best engineering design of bridges.  The exhibition concluded its activities recently in Oita, Japan with the participation of 300 students representing 46 establishments from 19 countries including USA, UK, Australia and Canada.

Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi, IAT Director General, assured that the participation of IAT students in these international activities helps achieve the institute's goals towards building a scientific base from students in an early stage to place them on the most advanced engineering and technological paths.  He added that the importance of the exhibition lies in that all the participating countries presented the most recent innovations made by students in their new scientific projects in the fields of Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Earth and Environmental Sciences.

The Institutes of Applied Technology Attracts 4500 Male and Female Students


The Institutes of Applied Technology follow a definded and clear stragety in introducing the institutes to the students and parents.  Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi, Director General, IAT said in an interview with Akhbar Al Arab.

Dr. Al Shamsi said that the Institute with its six branches in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain (male and female), Dubai, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaima attracted this year 4500 students, with an increase of 60% from the previously registered 2700 students.

IAT Students start training in nuclear power plants in Korea


36 students from the Institute of Applied Technology, along with 12 students from Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), Started the practical training in nuclear power plants in Korea during the summer period.


This training at the nuclear power stations in South Korea is part of the practical training programme in accordance with the strategic plans of overseas training for students in the engineering fields.

Emiratization of Technological Careers at VEDC


VEDC was established under a directive no 28 in 2005 and with instructions from H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, as one of the distinguished educational projects under the supervision of the Institute of Applied Technology and in accordance with the wise government's strategy to Emitatize the technological Careers

50 UAE students to be dispatched for Nuclear Energy Training in Korea


The Institute of applied technology in collaboration with Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation will dispatch 50 UAE students (10 July – 7 August) to receive training in nuclear power plants in South Korea. This will be the first batch to be sent for training in this domain.

Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi, IAT Director General, announced the start of offering nuclear energy courses to all IAT grade 12 students starting next year. He also indicated that there will be an educational path for students to learn renewable energy, gas, petroleum and peaceful nuclear energy.

IAT Accepts 1572 Male and Female Students for Next Year

The Institute of Applied Technology accepted 1572 male and female students out of 4739 applicants from grade 9 and 10 for the next academic year 2010/2011. The number of the accepted students represents 33% of the total applications, and the registration is still open.

Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi, IAT Director General, declared that the number of the accepted students represents 65% of the actual capacity of the five IAT campuses.

Summer Challenge Starts in Aviation in Al Ain


The Al Ain International Aviation Academy, a subsidiary of IAT, announced, and for the first time, the start of “Summer Challenge” program with the participation of 60 UAE students in Al Ain Schools.

During the program, the participants will be introduced to the devices and components of the plane and learn how to fly one using the simulator which reflects the actual experience in flying , said Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi, IAT Director General.

Dr. Al Shamsi indicated that the students will apply the theoretical studying in projects and compete among themselves then present their projects during the graduation ceremony at the end of the program.
